Microsoft proved once again that we can't trust Internet Explorer (and maybe all products of Gates' company) - a security patch that makes Internet Explorer crash. The already popular MS06-042 security bulletin released by Microsoft the last week will be re-released on August, 22-nd because of the problems it caused on some users' browsers.

It seems that the people who are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 width Service Pack 1 on Windows XP plus Service Pack 1 or Windows 2000 will have problems if they apply this patch. When they visit websites that have both compression and the HTTP/1.1 protocol enabled MSIE will crash unexpectedly.

However Microsoft continues to urge the Windows users to apply this buggy security patch. The reason is that the security vulnerabilities that are fixed by the patch could harm your computer much more than the crashes of Internet Explorer.

If you are using MSIE on Windows XP plus SP2 or Windows Server 2003 you shouldn't worry about this patch - these systems are not affected.

The problem with this security patch of Microsoft is not that huge - we've seen much worse bugs, it's all about the low quality of Internet Explorer and the security services of Microsoft. The problem is more global than it looks like and I don't think that the upcoming IE 7 and Windows Vista can change the situation a lot.

Mobile phone suppliers "Vodafone" and "NTT DoCoMo", as well as the producers of "Motorola", "Samsung", "NEC" and "Panasonic" announced that they will form an independent group with the idea to split the bills, to improve the quality of their appliances and of the software programs and also to decrease the number of operating systems on the market.

Like the personal computers, the mobile phones use operating systems with installed different programs like text messages or programs reading music and video files. As the technology of the mobile phones is developing very fast, increase rapidly the finances on the part the producers, necessary for the working out of these programs. This is the reason why the new programs are created so that they could be used from all kind of operating systems.

Nowadays the leaders of operating systems for mobile phones on the market are "Symbian" and "Microsoft" while "Linux", used mostly in China, has a very small position on the market. The producers of mobile phones stake on "Linux" because of its open source code, hoping to decrease the fierce competition between the companies, offering "ready to use" versions of operating systems for mobile phones and to reduce the prices this way.

"Vodafone" announced that this action would allow a faster offering of new products on the market. In this way would be created new products and systems fulfilling the needs of the clients.

SuSE Linux Enterprise 10 is Novell's latest release of its Linux distribution. Novell said that it has received a warm welcome for Suse Linux Enterprise 10, which launched on July 18. Over 165000 users from across the globe have already downloaded components of the Suse Linux Enterprise 10 suite. It includes the Suse Linux Enterprise Server and Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop products. SUSE Linux Enterprise was downloaded every five seconds on average since it became available.

According to Novell the new SLED and SLES are the best engineered and lowest cost products for both desktop and server needs. Novell added Xen virtualization and new application security features. On the server side, Novell is looking to Suse Linux Enterprise to give the company a product that can win share from its rival, number one Linux player - Red Hat.

SuSE Linux includes a complete portfolio of integrated management tools to simplify and automate configuration and patch management. The success of SuSE is very important for Novell. It has been described as a "major milestone" in the evolution of Linux and one of the most important steps in the history of Novell.
